Anti-Ageing

What is anti-ageing?

Anti-ageing refers to a category of skincare products that help slow down the natural ageing process of the skin. Although the term may suggest otherwise, it is wise to start using anti-ageing products around the age of 30. Starting earlier is not necessary, but postponing it can have visible effects later in life.

Anti-ageing for women

How your skin looks at 50 or 60 is partly determined by how you care for it from your 30s onwards. Women who want to prevent fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles or crow’s feet are well advised to begin an anti-ageing routine in good time.

Of course, you can also start using anti-ageing products later in life – better late than never. But as with many things, prevention is better than cure. From the age of thirty, the skin’s natural collagen production begins to decline, which reduces elasticity and firmness. These are key factors in visible signs of skin ageing.

Your lifestyle also plays a major role. Avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol, getting enough sleep, staying active, drinking plenty of water, and protecting your skin from excessive sun exposure are just as important as using the right skincare.

Which anti-ageing products are there for women?

There is an enormous range of anti-ageing products available, and it can be difficult to know which to choose. That’s why it’s helpful to understand the different product categories and what they are designed to do.

Anti-ageing cream

An anti-ageing cream is a versatile product that helps target various signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles, loss of moisture and dark circles. This category includes day creams, night creams and eye creams.

Day cream

An anti-ageing day cream is applied in the morning after cleansing your skin. It provides hydration throughout the day and helps to reduce visible signs of ageing. The texture is generally lighter than that of a night cream, as a thick formula can feel heavy during the day when you're active.

Night cream

A night cream is specially formulated to deeply nourish and repair your skin while you sleep. The formula is usually richer and more nourishing than a day cream, allowing the skin to absorb active ingredients overnight. Night creams are designed to help reduce lines, wrinkles, discolouration and other visible signs of ageing.

Under eye cream

An under eye cream is specifically developed for the delicate skin around the eyes. This area is often the first to show crow’s feet, puffiness and dark circles. Apply a small amount with your ring finger and gently pat it into the skin. Under eye creams are best used in the evening, alongside your night cream.

Anti-wrinkle cream

These creams are specifically aimed at reducing wrinkles and fine lines. While day and night creams are usually all-rounders that address a variety of issues, an anti-wrinkle cream focuses solely on firming the skin and reducing the appearance of existing wrinkles. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a more targeted approach.
